CRFP Team of 5 Compete in 24 Hour MT. Bike Race

June 13-14, 2009 - Members from the CRFP Cycling team made the 3 1/2 hour trip to Hazelton , WV for the 18th Annual 24 Hours of Big Bear Mountain Bike Race.  More than 600 riders made up 174 teams for the annual 24 hour relay race.  This was the first time CRFP Cycling competed as a team in the race, and for two of the 5 team members, it was their first mountain bike race ever.

The highly technical 13 mile course was slippery and physically challenging due to the 6" of rain the area received within a month of the race.  CRFP team members completed 11 laps in 24 hours, traveling a distance of 140.8 miles, and climbing a total of 17,930 feet in elevation.  They finished 95th out of 174.

The team is looking forward to expanding it's participation in this National level race next year.  Having learned a lot, and eager to improve, all members who participated this year have vowed to return in 2010.
